Evening talks
Monday Evening
Speaker: Francis Noordanus.
Francis came to Europe 9 years ago from New Zealand. Part of his call is to serve as a witness in post-Christian Europe and encourage faith in a living God. He has been involved with New Wine and its New Zealand predecessor since the mid 1990s. He pastors an International English Speaking Church in the region around Eindhoven. Together with Barbara they have two recently graduated adult children living on opposite sides of the planet.
Topic: Opening Address Looking at God's big plan for all nations and our place in that as New Wine Europe and as individuals. Francis brought a Gospel message to gather us at the outset. Download or listen online here
Tuesday Evening
Speaker: Anne Coles
Topic: Declaring his glory among the nations
There is a cry in the human heart to see the glory of God, but the world has been blinded to it. God has called us to show His glory as we live for Him; and as I’ve visited the church in other nations I’ve seen the impact of their testimony. We have much to learn from them. Wednesday Evening
Speaker: Mark Collinson.
Mark moved from Sale, near Manchester, UK to Amsterdam in November 2001 to lead Christ Church Amsterdam. He is married to Sue and they have two children Isobel and Samuel. He loves seeing people find their calling in Christ, and meeting Jesus in worship and through the Bible being taught and caught by the way Christians live their lives in the workplace as much as in their leisure time. Having worked formerly as a management consultant in large companies he wants to see the gospel bring transformation to institutions and society as much as individuals. He enjoys squash and running, and heading to the mountains for holidays.
Topic: The vision of New Wine Europe is to equip the churches to bring a ministry of God's Word and God's Spirit to their nations. How might God do this? This evening we'll draw close to Jesus in his death, and learn from the example of Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea as examples of uncertain disciples who served the Body of Christ with love and sacrifice. We will ask the Holy Spirit to equip us by giving us the gifts of grace He wants to bestow on us. Download or listen online here
Thursday Evening
Speaker: John Coles
Topic: (What on earth is God doing?) Getting in the flow ...
God is in the business of giving life; the world is dying without him. F B Meyer once said ‘The church has withdrawn from the River, and created a settlement in the desert’. But God has said ‘wherever the River flows everything will live’ Ezekiel 47.9. Whenever and wherever God’s people surrender to the flow and work of the Spirit,God will use them to give life even in the deepest, darkest and most barren of places. Download or listen online here
Morning Bible Teaching from Rich Johnson:
Rich is the Vicar of All Saints Worcester, a multi-site church in the city centre, with a growing congregation and a missional edge to all it does. At various points in his life, Rich has experienced the physical reality of being an exile, having grown up for much of his formative years in Brussels and Hamburg. After studying geography at Cambridge, he then did a PhD which took him to South Africa. Following that, and several years working on staff at Trinity Cheltenham, All Saints Peckham and St Mary's London, Rich became Curate/Associate Vicar at St Paul's Auckland, a successful church plant of St Mary's that grew from 300 to 1800 people in just five years. During his time in New Zealand he spoke at New Wine conferences, helped establish Soul Survivor NZ and taught on missional theology through Laidlaw College. He is married with three young children, and loves travelling, the outdoors, gardening, strong espresso and fine red wine!
Topic: Living well as exiles: inspiration for mission from the life of Daniel
Rich helped us grapple with the challenges and opportunities of living as "Kingdom exiles" in an increasingly postmodern and post-Christian world. Working from the early chapters of Daniel, Rich offered Biblical inspiration for the calling we share to bear witness to Christ in the world, as citizens of heaven. Just like Daniel and his friends, we find ourselves as exiles temporarily resident in an alien land, tasked with helping usher in God's rule and reign. Rich looked at four aspects of this life as exiles: possibilities, priorities, prophetic witness and persecution.
